I totally disagree about drug testing. The rider with the most interesting things to say about testing is David Millar (who himself got found guilty) and I agree with him that drugs will always be a problem, but that there are things you can do to make it harder to use them to succeed. Milar's own team (Slipstream/Garmin-Chipotle) is a model of one innovation -- have a team that trains together and lives in such a way that doping is very difficult.

Banned drugs are bad for the sport mostly because of what they could do to riders, but also because they scare away sponsors.

I have fairly complicated thoughts about drugs in sport, but as for bike racing, this interview with Millar is pretty close to my position.
