Re: Expensive, but valuable lesson...

"Therefore, he has more to lose in a divorce, generally speaking, than a woman does."

Even if I accept, for the sake of argument, that men have the possibility of losing more in a divorce than women do, that is a reason to STAY MARRIED, not to stay single.

Marriage does very well by men. They tend to identify themselves as happier, and tend to live longer healthier lives if they are married. Using the possiblility of loss as a reason to avoid ever even trying anything is silly; it would preclude most major goals in life.

If I go to school and fail, think of how much student debt I would have compared to if I had never gone to school at all!

Likewise, think of all the potential heartbreak I could avoid by never falling in love with anyone.

I guess many (most) of the men I know choose to live life dangerously *cue theme music*

PS I don't really give myself much of a pass when it comes to my ex. I was naive at first, yeah, then I was straight up stupid and ignored the clear signs I was being taken advantage of. It is my own stupid luck that nothing worse happened.
