Re: Carly for VP? Go Ahead. Then Obama Doesn't Need To Campa
by SalientMan

Work's kept me out of the Fray for a week: how I've missed you all!

On the other hand, a Fiorina VP will likely undermine the (in my opinion, very powerful) arguments that McCain is sexist (evidenced by his opposition to the Equal Pay Act, determination to overturn Roe v. Wade, calling his wife a "c***," laughing when Hillary was called a "bitch," and the entire story of his first divorce and remarriage). A female VP goes miles towards wiping that slate clean (it doesn't completely do it; and there's still the counterargument that he'd look like a phony), but it would no doubt help, especially if Obama doesn't pick a female VP.

The issue here is: if McCain wants a female VP, Fiorina's probably his only good option (except for maybe the governor of Connecticut...I'm blanking on her name momentarily). If Obama needs a female VP, Hillary is his only likely choice (the female governors who have been mentioned might infuriate die-hard Hillary supporters--still alive, well, and rabid--and Obama probably won't risk that).

So what's a feminist independent to do? Vote McCain/Fiorina and hope McCain's age really does mean it's a vote for 44 and 45, or vote Obama/Y-chromosome and hope for "next time?"
