I guess if you're a critic of Del Toro, you get the horns...

Don't get the hype surrounding Del Toro. His material isn't daring and his creatures feel like tweaked versions of the same monsters. An example being the pale man and the angel of death- the difference being eyes on the hands or wings, take your pick. The romantic storylines in HB2 are childish but without that sense of infatuation.

What really keeps me coming back is Ron Perlman whom I was introduced to in City of Lost Children and hope continues to get more roles and really adds a lot of the humor that Hellboy is associated with.

It's refreshing that someone is returning to the puppetry in the fashion of Jim Henson and I'm not saying he's a horrible director but just because he's riding on a donkey-inspired-fawn doesn't make him a messiah which, by the way, is probably the only two thousand year old story he didn't pull from.
