Re: I am speaking in generalities...

Well, yeah...that is why we have a joint account, is because it is OUR money, not MY money! If we got a divorce, what would be split 50/50 is OUR stuff, because we are MARRIED, see, which makes it COMMUNAL PROPERTY.

I bring in more cash, but I am not carrying this household by myself. He handles the bills (does that amount of financial trust creep you out? Does it?) and he could easily screw me over if he wanted to. But he doesn't.

I know this might be surprising to you, but I know quite a few people who managed to get divorced in an amicable fashion, because they realized they shouldn't be married to one another but still wanted to be fair. Many of them are (gasp) still good friends!

The vast majority of women aren't out there hunting for someone's shit to steal, evensteven. They are looking for companionship and love, just like most men.

Besides, seriously, it's just stuff. If the most miserable part of the dissolution of what I thought was a life-long partnership was losing some money, I would be fine with that.
