i am not speaking about YOUR and FREKI's situation. I am making the statement that IN GENERAL, men earn more than women and the benefits for him to get married are far outweighed by the risk of losing half of his assets, paying alimony, child support, etc. in a divorce.
Now, I don't know about you, but, if you were going to invest in a business and knew going in that your chances of success were less than 50% would you invest in that business?
Well, that depends. If I have limited assets to begin with, and investing in the business would give me a 45% chance of great gain (there are many benefits to men who STAY married) then I might.
I have little sympathy for people, men or women, who get married on a whim with no idea how to blend finances or have an argument without wanting to kill each other. If you make bad choices, you reap the rewards. If you don't want to ever experience the possibility of child support, get a damn vasectomy! If you are rich and fear she might be after your money, prenup!
A guy knows going into a marriage whether the woman makes as much money as he does. If he doesn't want kids, he should make that clear. If he doesn't trust her to take birth control pills, WHY IS HE MARRYING SOMEONE HE DOESN'T TRUST?
Why is this so complicated?
