Wait a second on ballers chasing oversea $$
by cbny
Good for the kids, why not take the money to do what they go to college for. But I think there is one point that is hugely overlooked by all columnists on this issue: why would the European teams desire an eighteen year old ball player that will only play for one year before jumping to the NBA? Maybe to land a "big" name high schooler? Possible. But do we believe that even LeBron was a name in Italy or Spain when he was 17? If I get this right, teams will bring in relatively immature players who won't speak the language, are in foreign lands for possibly the first time, have to learn the team's system and mesh with the other teammates, and play against older and more physically mature players for one year before they chase the NBA dollars. Does anyone believe this will produce positive results for the Europeans? Just asking.
