This isn't really about WALL-E, is it?
by smashignitionst

This article takes effort to continually tie itself to the movie alluded to in the title, but through the whole article, it is obvious that this author is using WALL-E as a vehicle to vent latent complaints.

All these comments about carbon emissions and health care costs stem from pent-up frustration with the world's view of overweight people. The movie never demonstrated that fat people ruined the Earth, and the entire premise of having people fat, sedentary, and apathetic is to show that they were all *reluctant* to do anything towards going back to Earth - that their cupcakes-in-a-shake lifestyle was too cushy to abandon for something that required a little effort. Being fat is symptomatic of all these things, but in no way was the controlling feature of this film.

Perhaps the author should have paid attention when he was watching the movie instead of fixating on his "fat people shown on screen reminds me of stressful topics like health care costs and carbon emissions" compulsive thinking.
