I honestly don't mean to be mean, but this author must be overweight to be so defensive about it. There are honestly people who are genetically overweight and cannot do too much about it, we all know that. But really - "in the last 30 years" I agree, genetics have not changed - there is something much greater going on. It is completely indefensible to say that even a quarter of our obese population is predominantly caused by genetics. It just does not fit any sort of historical data throughout various cultures.
