I completely agree with FaxMeBeer. Number one, someone's whose name is so awesome should not be disputed.

Number two: we still wear virginity pins. They're called chastity rings, or abstinence rings or whatever those Christian kids who wear them call them.

I, for one, as a completely non progressive woman, look back at the fifties as a time where it would be nice to be alive. I would love, as a woman, not to have to work and to be able to stay home and raise a family. I would love to be able to smoke without fear of persecution. And girdles rock. I don't like my behind jiggling even a little bit. There's too much behind to jiggle in my opinion. Plus, those hairdos rocked.

As for domestic violence, I hardly think it was worse back then. At least there were plenty of men who respected women and stuck around to raise families, unlike today, where it seems men are randomly fathering children and deciding it's ok to leave.
