Error about Supreme Court Building Motto
by bwilsonfan

The actual phrase etched on the facade of the U.S. Supreme Court building is "Equal Justice Under Law," not "Equal Justice for All," as written by the authors. While this is a minor point in the context of the entire article, these two phrases are not synonymous, in my view. The actual etched phrase necessarily is more circumscribed a concept than the erroneous one in the article--reflecting the constitutional principle, as I see it, that the courts cannot always redress all ills, even if "equal justice" is not being served.
