Has the racial redistribution of wealth through Jim Crow laws and discrimination destroyed our economy?
What is your definition of racism? You seem to just throw the term around and the context doesn't fit any defintion that I'm familiar with.
I visited South African before the end of Apartheid. I'm surprised to learn from you that system was just economic. I thought it was an organized, political, corrupt system based on the subjugation and physical intimidation of the majority based on race. I guess you learn something every day.
Minority groups or individuals are successful in spite of the obstacles put in front of them. There success is not evidence that the obstacles don't exist. The extra effort needed for this diverts energy away from the ultimate goal of success. As you point out in your post this is counterproductive and not in the best interests of the society. I agree with this. How do we get rid of the obstacles?
I'm glad that your friend is successful. It is a wonderful anecdote. But an anecdote is not evidence. I have plenty of anecdotes of my own about the obstacles that I've overcome to get to where I am. I'm sure if you talk to your friend he could tell you about some of his. The relevant question is, 'Do you think it is fair for your amigo to have to overcome these institutional obstacles, or are you ok with them being in place and becoming a potential hindrance to his progress?'
If Asians being discriminated against in CA is immoral, then isn't the historical PREFERENCE given to white males in this country immoral as well? Again, since I didn't receive an answer to my question I'll post it again:
For a long time in this country you had to be a white male to be considered qualified in the first place. This is the biggest Racial Preference in the history of the country and ALWAYS WILL BE, but because it is the default position nobody truly addresses it for what it is, a (de facto) RACIAL PREFERENCE. Since we have established that Racial Preference is wrong, then please tell me how we begin to redress the unspoken, de facto racial preference of being a white male? Please don't tell me what we shouldn't do, but address what we should do.
BTW, 'Get over it' is an inadequate response
