Re: used car vs Prius
by mikadog1

Raw goods and parts these days do do a lot of traveling. They have for many years. This isn't limited just to Prius batteries, just about everything you purchase probably has parts that have crossed the BIG POND one or more times. Reminds me of when RCA was advertising that they were the only TV manufactured in the U.S.A.

They shipped the raw materials for the electrical components to Japan where the components were made. The then had the parts shipped to Mexico for initial assembly. Finally they were shipped to the U.S.A. for final assembly...

As for all-electric cars, many studies have shown that Hybrids produce less polution than Electric cars because of the pollution produced by the power plants to produce the power to charge them.

And as you mention, they can't keep up with power production now. What would happen if thousands of people suddenly plug in their electric cars. Yes, they can build more power plants but who is going to pay for them? Another falicy like Ethanol.

Go Hydrogen!!!
