Sex outside of marriage is wrong, didn't you hear? So of course there has to be the risk of being 'punished' by bearing and raising an unwanted child associated with it.
One thing he's missing is that 'sexual misconduct' didn't run any more rampant as the result of the availability of effective oral contraception than it had been running previously (does he really beleive there were no available forms of contraception prior to the development of the pill than?) It was the fact that people were already engaging in sex for purposes other than pro-creation that motivated the development of oral contraceptives.
There's no evidence (other than the voices speaking in his head) linking oral contraception or extra-marital sex with increased alcohol and drug use or the development of more effective therapies to address those addictions. There's similarly no link between the availabilty of oral contraceptives and a coarsening of our society's language.
"We have not just lost respect for other people, we have lost respect for ourselves. This board is a fine example of that."
>>The great majority of posters to this board have certainly earned my respect--not all, certainly, but perhaps he should be reminded that genuine respect needs to be earned.
