Before we rebuild another country we need to clean our own house. By that I mean send career politicians packing, rather they be republican, democrat or an independent. Sorry this means Ted Kennedy needs to go home and fight his cancer and Oklahoma's Istook needs to return to mopping floors at the radio station. There could be worse things to replace these fixtures with than Franken winning his election bid. A humorist Will Rogers was! He was able to keep in toe with the average Joe, which was and is his legacy. Humorist can laugh at themselves. Politicians can't. Humorist can connect with most all groups; politicians only connect with their supporters. It's therefore sad that we don't have more down to earth people making a run for office, instead of the well bred and groomed, stock that we consider electible. If you loose an election, you shouldn't be allowed to switch parties and run in the same election cycle. No names mentioned. If you wish to change party's after loosing a primary its only proper that you should sit out an election cycle before re-entering the race under a different party’s hat. What's important in electing one to any office, their pedigree? Or is it the person who they truly are? Sincerity over pecking order and honesty over endorsements! Today’s politicians must be redefined. There is necessity for change and a civil screaming for a halt to civil liberty violations. Franken's election to office could be a start to the changing of the old school approaches. The question is can he take the job serious? If so will he be able to avoid the trap door that so many with good intentions who make it to D.C. eventually fall through?
