We are growing as a people and nation. The 50's and 60's involved a period when we came together as a people about equality. I shiver with pride every time I see a picture of them.
yes I too am a baby boomer and a part of that generation having grown up mostly in NYC with some Alabama farm time spent summers and Calif and Pa brief livings.
I have to try to fit in-- I loved jazz-- Still do-- skit scat tin pan and all!
I also loved Amos n Andy! And the threee stooges-- Spanky & our Gang!
I hate what I saw fracturing us back in a Lennon--Hendriks period when we could chill in any ways we chose in NYC . And I did til the rules changed under Black Theology--
It left me out letting vme know in no uncertain terms that I was a white kid in NYC --
It took amos and Andy away too! Then they took their own Malcolm X and later his Wife too. After malcolm it seems went on a sabbatical to Egypt and learned lots--- and came back a changed man with a new pride ! Eliajah took him!
I would have been one of a selct group of Americans who would openly have supported and acted to allow African Americans to self determine and return to Africa with passage and start up money had I known what they wanted instead of taking away my even being known by my own cultural euro roots for my kids and self determinations!
Oh well being a white guy aint so bad-- Just have to learn that it means ummmm and I come from Ummmm? And dont go to Africa where all are supposedly from!
Walk soflty carry a little stick has been a good working policy for me-- and dont enter hot zones!
No worse than the Good speed that slowed down the MayFlower Penal colony ships to America and got sold off as a leaking ship when it was forced to return to UK Crown Trinity rule !
