RHL, your hatred of the military obviously exceeds all rational bounds. Like it or not, the military has some of the finest, bravest, and most honorable men and women this country has to offer. You've bought into the radical anti-military fringe. Try having a country without a military. Try speaking German while you're at it. I can't deal with someone who would call me a potential rapist and murderer just because I'm in the military.

On another point, the government doesn't owe anyone anything except the protection of the rights of its people. Its job is to protect them from threats from within, via law enforcement, and without, via the military. In order to accomplish these somewhat hazardous tasks, it has to pay and take care of a select group of governement employees. I love my country, but I still have to eat. All the other BS we get from government is just (often unconstitutional) gravy. The government doesn't owe you a damn thing, other than physical safety from those who would deny you your rights.
