Cornish pasty is a traditional food for Cornish miners. It is a pastry shell around potatoes, meat and seasonings. It makes a meal you can carry in your hand. The pastry is a bit stronger than most, because it needs to stand up to being carried around. They get called "letters from home".

We used to pack up a bunch of them and some drinks and coleslaw and have a picnic for the Fourth.
