It seems strange for me to agree with Nanotech (though I think the phrase "under God" should be revisited). However I remember hearing former Texas Governor Richards discuss the topic. She points out that one of the forgotten elements of the pledge is that we pledge allegiance not to a person but rather to the highest ideals of our country.
