Science and Engineer careers not compatible with motherhood

I am a woman with a masters in physical chemistry, currently working as a microelectronics engineer. I have known dozens of female scientists and engineers. The majority do not have children. Of the ones I know who do have children, they have only one.

One major reason women are under-represented in these fields are the long hours and penalties for taking time off to have children.
