Personally, I was completely unaware of the AG craze, and I'm surprised they have garnered so much popularity, frankly. The whims of the market and mass appeal are sometimes beyond my reach...

...but for me, more compelling is the DIY crowd that seeks to rebrand dolls to their own taste, or create special OOAK (one of a kind) editions, at times with completely home-made clothes (just like grandma used to make!)

Just search for OOAK on flickr, and you'll see a unique universe of personal creations, which in my mind, comes much closer to the real reason why you'd want to have a doll in the first place ~ to make it your own.
