The phrase "God bless America" makes me ill. It represents, in a nutshell, everything wrong with patriotism in general, and American patriotism in particular. Why the hell should god bless us? Why always, bless America? We never say, "God bless everyone." The implication is that we are always right, and that we deserve special blessings - like what? more MONEY! More POWER! Can you for a moment hear this as other people might in the world.
