"Now even our most critically acclaimed films are cartoons"

I really don't see what the problem is with great films being animated. Thanks to Pixar, the medium has become an outpost for true auteurs to express unique visions with storytelling and visual style of their own. It's probably true that live action big money films have had their artistic voices squeezed out, but that "cartoons" are receiving critical acclaim is not a bad thing.
