May I suggest then supporting the remaining Drive-In movies if convenient to your area? I am very fortunate to be close to a 365 day, multi-screen drive-in (one of 20 remaining in my State, that yes, once had 400) which charges $6.95 per person, for not one, but 2, or even 3 movies (yes, driving from one screen to the other is still allowed). Tuesday night is cheaper, only $4.95, and get this, 11 and under kids are free. Bringing your own refreshments are not in any way discouraged by management, who does not even check for alcohol unless someone complains about boorish behavior. Amorous activities inside vehicles? They have been known to happen. Again, no one is going around with flashlights unless complaints such as too much drifting pot smoke around children, etc. (I've heard this on the internet criticism thing, I've never witnessed it myself).
Kids? They LOOOVE it, like Wheezy in Dragon Tails say...or they go to sleep. Either/or.
So I agree: why pay an arm and a leg for a dumb multi-plex indoor cinema??
