Why is McCain spazzing over Clark?

I think I figured it out. After being a POW, McCain felt that he was entitled to be an admiral. He must have been determined not to have the temperament or the judgment because he was passed over. Now, he feels entitled to be CiC and he doesn't think that anyone has a right to suggest he be evaluated on any other criteria. The fact that Clark made the obvious point that he did concerning the need to look at other criteria must make McCain's blood boil.
