As I said in another thread, I learned how to shoot as a kid and am no stranger to guns. I shot my dad's 16 gauge semi-automatic shotgun and his two pistols, a .22 long rifle semi-automatic and a .38 special revolver. I even shot my cousin's antique replica six-shooter where the cylinders needed to be loaded one at a time with black powder, lead balls and percussion caps. Kerpow! I know the smell of gunpowder on a crisp autumn day. And like I said elsewhere, even though I decided that it wasn't my cup of tea, I don't have a problem with sane and responsible gun owners who do it for sport. I have a problem, however, with regular people (i.e. those not involved in law enforcement or the military) trying to claim that guns are useful for self-defense or to protect against government tyranny. I also have a problem with absolutists who refuse reasonable limits on gun ownership. There are some places where guns don't need to be in the hands of ordinary people, and some types of weapons and ammunition that don't need to be in the hands of ordinary people.
