for the US economy. They probably won't, though, for if the company is
acquired by a foreign owner, they will lose a valuable source of local
campaign contributions, and we know that is the most important issue
for politicians.
No one yet seems to have noticed that one of the two leading choices for the US Presidency will be very much influenced , albeit indirectly, by this takeover if it happens.
John McCain's wife Cindy's family fortune was made through Hensley & Company, an Anheuser-Busch distribution company. Consider the implications of foreigners controlling the major source of the US President's income.
Seriously, this isn't about campaign contributions and ill-gotten gains. Hensley & Company's income has heretofore been honestly earned. IF McCain is elected, and IF the takeover goes through based on purely short-sighted financial gains for existing stockholders and the inevitable gang of short-term speculators, the implications for the sovereignty of the US are not inconsequential.
I have been wondering why none of the big national news outlets have mentioned Hensley & Company in their coverage of this takeover bid. People ought to be fully informed. It isn't just about the stock price.
