This rampant and unreasonable adulation for Oprahma reminds me of another overdone 'bubble'. That would be the .dot com madness that resulted in widespread financial loses in the United States. Recently, the media has found itself wading into the social cesspool I have afffectionately labeled 'Infirmative Action'. Open ended and never ending social programs designed to level the playing field are ill advised. Even on of the most disasterous give-away programs in our Nation's history, welfare; was redesigned to mandate those on the program get out, find work, and reduce it's rolls. After more than twenty years, 'Infirmative Action' has done it's job and run it's course. No one ever talks about when the program should retire; Oprahma merely states 'he supports it'. Of course, how would Oprahma ever garner the vote he so wildly cherishes without supporting 'Infirmative Action'? To hear otherwise intelligent and responsible people make the wild and unsubstantiated claim that racial tolerance and fair opportunity has actually gone in reverse makes me laugh, they are out of touch with reality. To them the glass is and shall ALWAYS be half empty; how better to force the extension of a program that should have ended ten years ago? Those that support 'Infirmative Action' rarely acknowledge social progress and remain in perpetual 'victim mode' their entire lives, taking everyone else down with them. Those that support 'Infirmative Action' won't be happy until the people it was designed to 'help' have ALL the good jobs in the country and everyone else can hand out shopping carts at the local department store; they figure 'better you than me'. That dog don't hunt.
