I suppose I'm an old fart, but I really feel like constant multi-tasking, e.g. texting one friend while out with another group, takes away from the quality of regular, normal human interactions, for which there is still no substitute.

But real interaction is so much work!

Personally, I'm trying to figure out why texting, emailing and phoning (and that includes them ringers on a wall that all you "old farts" grew up with--you don't get off the hook that easy) isn't "real" interaction. Especially considering that NO interaction would likely be taking place otherwise (what with everyone being in different places.)

Signed: A 35-year-old who clearly remembers two different eras of communication and sees absolutely no difference in the quality of relationships in either.
