Give me Liberty or give me a break

For not the first time in my life I am ashamed of my country. But especially of the Democratic Party. Since the election of 2006 they have gone from ineffectual to cowardly. Republicans for decades have shown self-interest before common or even national interest. Fear, selfishness and hypocrisy are their guiding lights. But the Democrats are becoming their mirror image. I used to donate to the Democratic Party, but I never will again. Why waste my money on people who try to be Republican clones? This is just the latest in their capitulation to the worst Executive administration ever. (Nixon eat your heart out in hell.) A single courageous senator could filibuster this bill. Too bad Kucinich isn't a senator. The new law would not give the government any greater capability to monitor suspected terrorist organizations, but it does create a cover for expanding the program. I am certain that the real object is to allow NSA contractors to spy on U.S. and foreign companies to benefit the businesses owned by Republicans. And when the clumsy ham-handed cretins who do such things are caught, everyone will be so "shocked and disappointed." If we wanted bin Laden we'd have him by now, but he is too useful an idiot. It's not about protecting us, its about industrial espionage. And the Democrats are saying, "I want in on that action." They are deluding themselves, Republicans don't share.
