A little vandalism.
by artandsoul
So yesterday afternoon, while I was sitting at my house (or puttering around more likely) someone came along our very quiet road and defaced my Obama sign.

Harumph! It is a rather small and tasteful sign, one that I ordered from the website. It is a plastic sleeve that fits over a thin metal frame. I pushed into the grass about 2 feet off the road, next to the entrance of our driveway, right in front of some bright red begonias.

Upon exiting at 6:00 pm to go to dinner, I noticed that someone had taken a can of bright orange spray paint and scribbled over his name. Obama. On both sides.

It really pissed me off. I got offended at the racism of it. I got angry at the trespass and disrespect. I got a little nervous at the vulnerability it exposed. I ran tapes in my head for hours — “What kind of jerk are you?” “How would you like me to step on YOUR free speech?” and so on.

Kept me up till 1 am.

Very silly reaction indeed. I like my sleep. I need it.

So, today I called around to the various companies that have been doing work on our street - specifically the ones locating underground cables (which they marked, oddly enough, with bright orange spray paint on the grass of my diagonal neighbors yard). I’m such a Nancy Drew! I also called the Sheriff and let them know there was some mischief going down. It made me feel better.

But hey, a little vandalism never hurt anybody, right?

Yeah, right.
