1906: fed gov't collects revenues from states and plows money back into public schools (example, oregon, collects from logging industries)
1917: feds put money into secondary schools for trades
1920s: feds pay 1% of public school funds
1940: 2% of school revenues were from the federal government.
The amount has climbed over the ensuing years, to about 5.8 or so. According to the Hoover Institute, it's now about 9%.
Maybe you missed where public schools started teaching people how to research properly online. It's really cool, and it actually keeps you learning long after you leave school. That is, if you keep your wits about you and your mind open a tad.
Not your thing, I know.
