isn't anybody curious why a human would enjoy the company of a dog?

i remember when i used to have two cats and i used to wonder why they would seem to ignore each other to hang out with me, when they obviously had more in common. until a friend pointed out that i was enjoying their company more than that of humans, at least some of the time.

sheepdogs (not border collies) presumably have some inborn tendency to like to hang out with sheep. maybe lenore has a bit of the sheepdog in her lineage some ways back?
