My husband is staying at home with our son. In order to afford this, we live in a 1000 sq ft house, drive 10 year old cars and won't be going on any vacations in the next 5 years.
We aren't getting a childcare tax credit.
My coworkers with children whose spouses work all have bigger houses, newer cars, and go on elaborate vacations. They get the childcare tax credit. So I am paying more taxes so that families whose income is twice mine can get a tax credit. Does that seem fair to you?
If you want to talk about what is in the best interest of children, give everybody with children the same tax benefit rather than penalizing those who are already making sacrifices to spend more time with their children.
