I really appreciate that you are trying to do the right thing by your nanny. The problem is that most people can't afford to. If you need to work, you need to make a profit from working, and you can't pay much for child care. Many people end up with arrangements like grandma or working swing shifts or part-time.

What we really need is a society where a family can live on one income. Parents could then decide if they wanted to have the second parent stay home or use their salary to pay for a child care worker. Single parents might still need help, but that would be more affordable than day care for all.
