Re: Religion and Communication Problems

And again I state your belief doesn't match your scriptures and the original mythology

This belief matches my scriptures perfectly, as I have shown in my previous post, as well as the original. The quotes I have given are from the King James Bible, which is older than most other versions.

but rather are shaped to fit the modern distaste of certain sexual acts.

It is not a mdern distate for homosexuality. This is spoken of as a sin throughout the holy scriptures (I mean the Bible) which were written many years ago.

I don't assume all christians are the same, but I do assume that either the scripture has a given meaning or it does not.

I agree. The trick is finding the correct meaning. The Scriptures can be twisted to suit the will of men, and predict such action (Ps. 56: 5 and 2 Peter 3: 16) The only place to find the true meaning is through God. I will not argue this, however, as it would take to long and would detract form the topic of teh thread.

Constantly twisting it to suit whatever purpose a given person has only goes to show it isn't divine, or otherwise inspired and hold no more weight than the illiad or any other historical fairy tale.

Well, this does not prove they are not inspired. What it proves is that the men interpretting them are not neccessarily inspired.

And you have done just that...try to take what was written and force it to meet a particular viewpoint, and many, including the jews who's story you are attempting to pre-empt, disagree with you.

Isn't it possible that they are twisting the Scriptures so they do not affend people? I know the odds are against it, but it is possible.

Now, my original point is that religions should not change to fit people, but people should change to fit religion (if they want to be part of a religion).
