Mr. Russert's life it seems appears saintly to members of the media for being a good guy and doing his job well. If that is justification for the media frenzy of adoration it suggests serious slippage in our current expectations about their ethics and competence. Most of us who remain employed likely make that cut. The frenzy also should be a reminder that there is nothing so boring as the media writing about the media, even when Hitchins does so. Maybe Hitch, at risk of being boring, could take that one on instead?
