summer
by august

In general, I think color works better for summer, which seems strange to me because in my memory summers seem mostly colorless. Or rather -- washed out, sand colored.

Black and white pictures feel cool to me; both in the sense of temperature and of color (the way green feels like a cool color). As usual, the exception is Cartier-Bresson. That guy could photograph heat. His picture is shimmering -- I could swear I saw the thing moving, the way the air above a charcoal grill can shake from heat.

Well, heat and whatever it is they put in charcoal nowadays.
