An Old Fashion Fray Contest from an old forgotten frayster
by NoStar

Greetings to all who might remember me and to those who are saying "who the hell is this guy."

Without even thinking that it was mid-summer's night eve last night, I went to sleep thinking I should write a sonnet. (There is no time more enchanted for sonnet writing than June 20th.) I woke up at six and completed this sonnet in four hours. First, I will give you my sonnet (only the second I have written-not too bad, huh?), then I will give you my contest.

Anticipating

by NoStar

Perhaps through speculations grandiose

Enigmas that persisted since King James,

The truths concealed in layers most verbose,

Elizabethan codes with subtle aims

Replete with puns, outrageous and obscene

Just out of reach from prosecuting foes,

Well understood by those who had the means,

Will’s puzzles meant to keep us on our toes,

Now are revealed to those with open minds

Especially for those who love to read

Sonorous works with strict iambic lines

Nonplussed if only we chose not to heed

Each clue this sleuth has patiently set forth

Judge for yourself the evidence’s worth

The Contest:

Explain who this sonnet is about and what is being anticipated.

The contestant with the most thorough answer will receive the prize which I anticipate will have a value around $25.00 plus shipping. Relatives of myself and/or the subject of the sonnet are not eligible to win the prize.
