Re: What about guys' choices?

TJA:
I had a buddy who graduated with a degree in education and had just started teaching math in high school. Going out to bars with him was an education. He would meet lots of women because he was good looking and charming but once they found out what he did their faces locked in a smile and they found a way to exit the conversation quickly.

Mmm hmm. I wouldn't be surprised if this happened once or twice. But having gone to bars with my friends on the judo team who are often good looking but don't make much money, I have not seen this. They never wanted for female companionship.

TJA:
He met several women who taught at his school who told him directly that altough they love teaching, they could NEVER marry a teacher because they need someone who makes enough money to compensate for the fact that they don't make much.

This is a reasonable consideration. The teachers I know who are married to other teachers and raising kids don't have a whole lot of money. He should be looking elsewhere too. I'm sure there are plenty of career minded women who'd jump at the chance to date someone who could be home early in the afternoons and have summers off to spend with the kids.
