Exactly.

McCain would be a fiscal catastrophe.

It should be recalled that Bill Clinton was elected in 1992 on a promise to reduce middle-class taxes...and he reneged on that promise, due to the influence of Robert Rubin, who convinced him that deficit reduction was more important.

Which is why I am hoping that Rubin comes to have a role in the Obama administration, either as a major economic adviser, or even as running mate.
