I am just curious how she managed to get engaged to this guy in the first place. Don't dates normally involve dinner? If I went on a first date with a guy who had no table manners I wouldn't want a second date no matter how stimulating the conversation.

I went on one date with a fairly interesting and intelligent guy who took me to the movies. He got up twice for long periods of time and then came back and asked me what happened. He actually got up right before the ending of KPAX for a phone call (don't judge me, he picked the movie) I thought to myself, he could be an great guy but do I want to go to dozens of movies and have to explain the parts he missed during the movie? I think bad table manners would be even worse then that IMHO.
