" ...probably don't read one fiction out of twenty books.."

Exactly. Here too.

"...I got an early copy and hated it, looked like two different people had written it..."

OY! This sort of thing has happened to me before. Leaving that let down, empty feeling from it. :\

Nowww, ..IF I go for a non-fiction book, I do a couple check ups first. I read the first, last, & a page in the middle. ( I know, most people seem to not handle that. But I don't surprise easily. & never have I felt let-down from reading the last page first.)

Also I ask people I know, for reviews, if none there, then read online reviews from my favored sources..

Sounds involved.. But it sure beats wasting $18 on a book that wasn't readable. mmmhmmm.

I shall see about getting those books you've mentioned, today. I've been craving to get into some book readin'.

Lately, I have been devouring my favored Richard Lederer books. Which are mainly light & fun/ny reading. (humorous word play & such.)

You might enjoy his works also. : )
