Re: Unity? KVETCHING VS WINNING

At this point my argument is one based on utility. If you want to achieve a certain end (e.g. the election of Obama), Obama supporters (in general) should probably re-consider the tone of their discourse. Obviously, Obama already has the votes of his supporters. He needs the votes of Hillary's supporters.

It may be personally satisfying to tell Hillary supporters that they're being irrational or prejudiced ("showing their whiteness"), but is that likely to lead to Hillary supporters changing their minds or is it likely to harden their view of Obama and his supporters?

Will the satisfaction you gain now from "pouring salt in the wounds" of Hillary supporters, offset the pain that you will feel in November if Obama loses because he couldn't win in Ohio, Michigan, and Pennsylvania (by relatively small margins) and you and others refused to change the tone of the dialogue, refused to welcome Clinton supporters?

It really depends on whether you want to continue to trumpet contempt for people who are not INCLINED to vote for Obama, or try to change their minds. If someone wanted to change your mind, would you likely be open to the message if all you heard was how stupid or racist you are?

DO YOU WANT OBAMA TO WIN?
