The UK has some of the best and the worst press in the world. Murdoch's Sun newspaper, which is aimed at the working class and illiterates, and which has to include daily a topless page 3 'lovely', actually has the power to influence elections. We now have The Daily Sport which is porn masquerading as a newspaper which is even worse.

On the other hand, our TV news has a duty to be fair and objective and you won't see anything as blatantly biased as FOX News. The trouble is that TV news is pretty superficial and rarely goes into any depth on major news issues. As far as Iraq goes, a good proportion of the coverage was dedicated to talk of military strategy instead of a discussion of the reasons for war or the influence of domestic Iraqi factors. Like CNN, BBC News 24 was prone to spending 3 hours gazing at a tank warming up its engines, moving its turret and then powering down again. Very informative.
