Judging by the responses on Slate, the Chinese are more blindly patriotic than Americans are. You will find plenty of self-critical posts from Americans on the fray, whereas the Chinese who post are often mouth-frothingly defensive about their beloved homeland.
Wake up and smell the coffee. China is a right-wing dictatorship, nothing more. True, America's media is widely controlled and influenced by huge corporate conglomerates, but the internet is gradually undercutting the media's bias and is offering alternative avenues for those seeking the truth about their government's policies. In China, the internet is also serving as a conduit for free speech but is being strangled to an extent by the all-pervasive nature of its government.
