Hi blueseamus,
You'll get no argument from me. In fact some of the rants I've seen from Hillary supporters are worse than the rants I've seen from Obama supporters.
The key difference is that right now for Obama to win he needs the Clinton supporters to remain in the Democratic column. My point has been that no matter how infuriating it may be for the Obama supporters, you are the guys who need the Clinton voters. I've heard some people suggest that Clinton supporters want to be "sucked up" to, but in fact, I think the most important thing is to drop all the anti-Hillary stuff. Denigration of the candidate is taken as denigration of the supporter, and even besides that, right now Obama needs not so much Clinton's support, but his supporter's assistance in preventing a major defection of Clinton supporters to McCain.
But again, I agree there have been way too many things said that were unhelpful in every sense of the word said by both sides. Obama supporters have an over-riding interest (Obama's election) in leading the way.
