Good god woman, the only thing worse than smugness (which is a self confident and self satisfied certainty in one's own righteousness... against evidence to the contrary, to make up one definition) is smugness that defends itself by denying that it is really smugness at all.

After all if you ask "am I being smug" you are really telling us that you are NOT being smug... because smugness is the condition of not questioning one's self certitude of righteousness.

So I am here to tell you that even though you attempted this clever self defensive maneuvers to clear yourself of the charge of smugness (by questioning your smugness) you are STILL being smug because a Prius is still a big stinking polluting automobile. It's batteries are produced by dirty processes, and it only gets twice the mileage of a small car. Drive half as much, or get rid of one of two cars and you are doing as much or more as getting a Prius.

Get a bike and a child trailer and you'll have something to be smug about.
