I can see the separate beds if the children are young and may be confused (is this permanent or temporary? are you my new mommy/daddy?) but the kids here seem much older than that and are themselves asking "why the charade of the separate beds?". The only message here is one of hypocrisy - that appearance counts much more than actions. For it would seem that the true nature of the relationship has been "out of the bag" for some time.
