This is not about the clash of personalities between Clinton and Obama. It is not about sins on the part of the Clinton campaign.
It is about the 18 million Clinton voters and all the other voters who have turned away from Obama since the early primaries. Obama needs to bring them back into the fold and he needs to offer them something that makes them feel understood, appreciated and respected.
The offer of the vice-presicency is a big step in bringing the Clintonistas into the Obama camp. Clinton should decline, as she is not really useful on the ticket.
Second, getting rid of Dean and Brazile will not hurt Obama now and would do wonders fpr the morale of the currently disaffected Clintonistas. They know Dean and his people railroaded Clinton's candidacy. If Obama acknowledges that, he wins the Clintonistas' respect. If he doesn't, people will still be pissed come November.
This is not about past insults. It is not about one candidate triumphing over another. It is about finding enough votes to put a Democrat in the White House come November so that the process of undoing the wreckage of the Bush administartion can begin. It is crucial for that country that Obama win, but right now, a lot of Democrats are so pissed that they will fight Obama and Dean and Brazile, rather than focus on saving the country.
